News:

The Gestalt Centre is now in its 28th year and continues as a Centre of Excellence graduating both Counsellors and Psychotherapists from its professional training, and offering its renowned Short Course Programme.

We are very pleased to add a workshop on the Gestalt Approach to Working with Children to our short course programme this year. The course will be led by tutor, Jon Blend MA CQSW, who is a UKCP registered psychotherapist and a counsellor. He has been working with children for over 12 years now, both in the NHS and in private practice having trained at the Violet Oaklander Institute for Child and Adolescent Therapy (USA). He also participated in the 'Relational Child' conference held at Esalen in 2007. Dates will be set for the spring of 2009, so please email to register your interest and get the first chance to book a place.

Another addition to our Short Course programme this year is the two-day workshop on Motivational Interviewing entitled Understanding Motivation and How People Change. Clinical psychologist and Gestalt psychotherapist, Toni Gilligan, will lead this excellent opportunity to learn the skills of facilitating real and lasting change.

Groupwork expert, Michael Ellis MA, will be the tutor for our Certificate in Groupwork. The essential element of this Certificate is the 10 Week Group Facilitation course, helping develop groupwork practice not only in therapeutic work but in any setting; social work, teaching, probation, nursing are just a few examples.
This course can be taken alone or as part of the Certificate. Again, it fills quickly so early booking is advised.

Senior practitioners and lecturers, Jane Puddy and Gaie Houston, will collaborate to offer a Diploma in Supervision. The 1st part, for those who have not yet trained as a Supervisor but who are either just beginning or just about to begin offering supervision, will run over four and a half days spread over 4 months and be lead by Jane. The 2nd part, for those who have already completed Gaie's previously offered Supervisor's Practicum or its equivalent, will run over 6 days spread over 3 months. Participants in part 2 will have an opportunity to submit a case study up to 6 months after the end of the course which, if passed, will entitle them to a Diploma in Supervision.

Writer, poet and performer, Angelika Wienrich, offers workshops in Free Fall - Creative Writing, a Gestalt Approach for those interested in exploring avenues to support their confidence in creative expression and/or learning this approach as a self help or therapeutic tool. Participants do not need any previous experience in either creative writing or Gestalt.

Further information and online booking for the full short course programme is available in our Short Course section
